Homeschool Fossil Project

Choose a few objects to fossilize. Chicken bones, leaves, rocks, and seashells all make good fossils. Now you have to create the cast to put the fossil in. Mix together in a disposable bowl 1 cup of Plaster of Paris and ½ cup of water. Wait until you see the cast start to harden up before pressing your fossil down into it. Lift the fossil straight up and out of the cast. You'll see the impression left behind. Wait for the cast to completely dry out before removing it from the bowl and putting it on display somewhere in the house. Painting the fossil is optional.
