Getting Involved in Charity Work
Children entering the fifth grade are
old enough to start considering helping others. You'll want to examine what the
options are in your community and then review them with your child. It helps if
your child is passionate about the charity. Some suggestions include raising
money or pet supplies for an animal shelter, bringing toys to the hospital for
sick children, or helping to hand out food to the needy at a food pantry. Your
child could also host an Alex's Lemonade Stand to benefit cancer patients or
collect money in water bottles to be sent to organizations that build wells in
developing countries.
